Welcome to Roberta Road Middle School's Media Center!

The goal of Roberta Road Middle School’s Media Center is to equip students with skills to use information and ideas effectively, think critically, create solutions, and encourage an excitement about learning and reading in a global world.

My name is Mrs. Yelton, and I am the media coordinator for our school. I have worked in education for over 18 years as a teacher, media coordinator, online instructor, instructor supervisor and mentor. When I’m not at school, I enjoy playing board games, crafting, trying new foods, listening to podcasts, spending time with my family, and of course…reading! I enjoy reading all kinds of books, but my favorite genres are probably dystopian fiction, fantasy, and historical fiction.

October Creative Contest Challenge

October Creative Contest Challenge:

The creative challenge this month is to create an original piece of writing for the Young Authors' Contest theme.

The theme is...Beacons of Shining Light!

"Young Authors may write about how they can be or have been a 'beacon of light' for others in their families, schools, and communities; recognize those who have helped light the way or inspired them; how they have turned challenges into opportunities. Authors may write prose or poetry, fiction or nonfiction."

We will give prizes for our top three entries as always, but there is also an opportunity for submissions to be entered into the Cabarrus County Young Authors' Contest and possibly advance to the state competition!

*To be considered for the county or state contest, the writing piece must be 400 words or less.*
